Tallahassee - Florida Department of Corrections' Secretary James McDonough is pleased to announce the promotion of veteran attorney, Rosa Carson to General Counsel. Carson began her career with the Department in 1982 and most recently served as Attorney Supervisor and has been serving as acting General Counsel.
"Rosa is a shining example of professionalism and leadership in this Department, and I am proud of her accomplishments," said Secretary McDonough. "She has my trust and confidence in performing her new duties."
Carson graduated with honors from the Florida State University College of Law. She also holds Masters and Bachelors degrees from Florida State.
Secretary McDonough also welcomes Anthony Miller to the Department as Deputy General Counsel. Miller was an attorney with the Department of Management Services, where he provided counsel to the Division of Facilities Management and Building Construction. Miller also serves as a mentor and as a board member for the Legal Aid Foundation, which provides pro bono legal services.
"Anthony is a bright, young attorney who exemplifies service above self," McDonough added. "With these two key positions filled and a staff of veteran attorneys, I have every confidence in the Office of General Counsel in performing our key missions: public safety, mutual respect and care of each other, and the care and professional supervision of those in our custody."
