Department of Corrections to
Expand Employee Drug Testing Program
Tallahassee - Secretary James McDonough and his senior leadership team are taking the first drug tests under the Department's expanded drug testing program, to be announced during a press conference Tuesday.
The Department will begin random drug testing for all certified officers, senior management and other employees. The ground-breaking program, which includes steroid testing, takes a comprehensive approach to ensuring a drug-free workplace.
Invited participants and representatives include: Bill Janes, Director of the Florida Office of Drug Control; Jim Baiardi, Vice President of the Florida Police Benevolent Association; Barbara Lumpkin, R.N., Associate Executive Director of the Florida Nurses Association, as well as representatives from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
A demonstration of the Department's Drug Detection Canine Units will also take place.
