Tallahassee -The Florida Department of Corrections will kickoff a statewide crime prevention and education initiative called “Law Enforcement Day” on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at Leon High School in Tallahassee.
This event will bring together Leon County law enforcement agencies including the Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County Sheriff’s Office, along with state agencies such as the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Florida Highway Patrol, Fish and Wildlife Commission and the Florida Army National Guard.
Each agency will bring tools to demonstrate their capabilities including K-9 bloodhounds, the FDLE Crime Scene Investigation Unit and a National Guard combat helicopter.
Florida Department of Corrections Secretary James McDonough will speak at the event.
The Department will hold similar events at High Schools around the state in the upcoming school years.
