The Florida Department of Corrections’ (DC) Inspector General’s Office, in cooperation with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), arrested Keith Alan Black, 42, a state correctional officer, on Oct. 6, 2008 for allegedly trafficking cocaine.
“We are grateful to FDLE for their prompt response to this matter, which was initiated through our prison inspectors. We will continue to work hand-in-hand with FDLE to root out unacceptable behavior within our ranks,” said DC Inspector General Paul Decker.
The joint investigation revealed that Black intended to introduce cocaine into Liberty Correctional Institution and charged Black with one count of cocaine trafficking. He was booked into the Leon County Jail and faces a minimum mandatory three year sentence and up to 15 years in prison.
