Correctional Officer Murdered at Tomoka Correctional Institution

A correctional officer was murdered Wednesday, June 25, 2008, in the line of duty at Tomoka Correctional Institution in Daytona Beach, Florida. 

“Words cannot express the sorrow I feel over the loss of our correctional officer,” said Department of Corrections’ Secretary Walter McNeil.  “The entire Department grieves the murder of one of our finest officers, and we pray for the victim’s family during this difficult time.”

The victim, Donna Fitzgerald, had been employed with the Department since April 1995. She was 51 years old.   

The suspect, 39 year old inmate Enoch Hall (#214353), is serving a life sentence for sexual battery and kidnapping.
