Calhoun Correctional Institution’s K-9 Unit was asked to assist the Blountstown Police Department on September 29, 2008 to help find two bank deposit bags stolen during a burglary and believed to be deposited by the burglar. They needed the bags so they could be fingerprinted and used as evidence. K-9 “Rowdy,” along with Sgt. Andy Millard and Officer John Barton responded, and Major Rodney Smith of the Blountstown Police Department briefed the team. They began searching the wooded area where the subject was last seen eight hours earlier. “Rowdy” established the track and continued tracking for approximately one half mile where he alerted on both deposit bags lying in the brush. Congratulations to the Calhoun C.I. K-9 Unit for a job well done!
