Law Enforcement Targets Sexual Offenders: Nets 4 Arrests
State probation officers along with members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Lauderhill Police Department, and Margate Police Department spent the night of September 23, 2009 visiting the homes of 82 sexual offenders and predators resulting in the arrest of four felons who had violated their probation and resulting in the seizure of five unauthorized weapons (knives).
In continuing combined operations, teams of law enforcement and probation officers targeted sexual offenders and predators residing in the northern area of Broward County. Home visits by law enforcement officers included making contact with each offender, conducting a status check and a walk through of the offender’s residences. In total forty-four walk through home inspections were conducted. In addition attempts were made to serve violation of probation warrants. Most of those contacted at home were in compliance with their probation requirements. Those who were not were taken in to custody for violation of probation.
