West Palm Beach Probation Officer’s Actions Result in Offender Arrest

On February 13, 2009, Correctional Probation Senior Officer Gregory Green responded to an alert at an offender’s residence in South Bay while conducting his duties as an On-Call Officer. The offender is on probation for numerous violent charges including two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault.  Officer Green followed the proper protocol in addressing this alert by first attempted to reach the offender by calling and messaging him. When all attempts to communicate with the offender were met with negative results, Officer Green then contacted his supervisor to discuss the situation and it was decided that he go to the residence to investigate.

Upon his arrival at the offender’s residence, the officer noticed a person sitting outside and could hear a GPS tracking device beeping from the alert.  Not being familiar with the offender or the neighborhood, he decided to seek assistance from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.  Upon their return, three Sheriff’s Office Deputies located the offender, in the vehicle parked in front of the residence, with a loaded AK-47 in his lap.  The offender was taken into custody without incident by the Sheriffs Office.
