Walton Canine Team Quick Catch
On May 22, 2009, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office called and requested assistance from the Walton Canine Team. A Walton County resident had returned home to see two white males fleeing his home after breaking and entering. In less than 10 minutes the Canine Team (Sergeant C. A. Godwin, Officer D. Landingham, Officer D. Ward, and Officer D. Byrd) was activated and enroute to the crime scene. Sergeant Godwin put Bloodhound K-9 “Charlie” on the track of the two subjects and within minutes both subjects were taken into custody. The victims’ personal property was recovered thanks to the quick response from the “Team.” Both subjects were charged with Burglary and Possession of Marijuana. It was 26 minutes from the time Walton CI received the assistance call until Sergeant Godwin radioed that the subjects were in custody the of Walton county sheriffs.
