On Friday, February 19, 2010, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., the Florida Department of Corrections, DeFuniak Springs 014, will be hosting a Re-Entry Resource Fair. Northwest Florida State College will once again host the fair in the Chautauqua Center, 908 U.S. Highway 90 West, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433. The purpose of the Re-Entry Resource Fair is to assist those on supervision with their re-entry into society by helping them find jobs and housing, as well as connect them to local resources for health care, education, etc. While the Re-Entry Resource Fair is focused on assisting citizens on state probation in Walton County, the general public is encouraged to attend.
Health care providers, educational institutions and community resource organizations will be in attendance.
At the time of this release, there are over 12 local sponsors providing food and employment opportunities.
The Department of Corrections currently supervises more than 121,000 people on supervision statewide and approximately 900 in Walton County.
There will be video and audio opportunities for reporters as well as interviews with probation officials.
