Hillsborough Correctional Institution Graduation Program

Thirteen female inmates at Hillsborough Correctional Institution will graduate from the GED program and another 59 female inmates will receive vocational certificates in a ceremony at Hillsborough Correctional Institution.

Who: Warden Rhodene Mathis, speaker Cornita Riley, ( Deputy Chief of Operational Services Orange County Corrections Department ) and graduate inmates.

When: Thursday, July 22, at 2 p.m.

Where: Hillsborough Correctional Institution

Directions: Take I-75 to Exit 246 (Apollo Beach); go east to US-301 (first traffic light), turn south on US-301. Go to CR- 672 and turn east. Institution is approximately one mile from the turn on the north side of CR-672.

What: Programs like the ones at Hillsborough Correctional are part of the Department’s re-entry initiative to reduce crime and increase public safety . Most inmates (88 percent ) are eventually released from prison. Those with education and job skills are less likely to commit another crime after release.
