Reporters invited to Unveiling of “Colonel Greg Malloy Road” on July 21 at Okaloosa Correctional Institution

Reporters are invited to the unveiling of “Colonel Greg Malloy Road,” a renaming of Little Silver Road to honor the sacrifice of Colonel Malloy, former Okaloosa Correctional Institution officer who was killed in the line of duty on February 2, 2011. Little Silver Road is the entrance road to Okaloosa C.I.
Holmes CI Colonel Greg Malloy died in the line of duty on February 2, 2011 while working with a Department K-9 unit tracking a suspected killer in Holmes County. The suspect died in the exchange of gunfire.
Reporters are invited to meet at the entrance of Colonel Greg Malloy Road on July 21, 2011 at 10:30 am CST for the unveiling. There will be refreshments after the ceremony at the Training Building.
Malloy was initially employed at Okaloosa CI as a Correctional Officer on February 12, 1988, were he was promoted to Sergeant the next year, and to Lieutenant in 1991.
