CRAWFORDVILLE – The media are invited to the Department of Corrections’ Rapid Response Team (RRT) Training at Wakulla Correctional Institution’s Harry K. Singletary Jr., Training Academy in Crawfordville near Tallahassee on Friday, October 21, 2011. RRT squads will be cycling through the five training areas from early morning until noon.
|What:||Rapid Response Teams are the Department’s first responders to incidents and disturbances on prison grounds. Twenty-nine squads will represent prisons from Pensacola to Gainesville in this training exercise for the Northern Florida Region of the Department. The training areas include munitions, platoon and squad formation, a riot/baton scenario and a physical fitness competition.|

|Directions:||From I-10 take Exit 199 (US-27 South) through downtown Tallahassee the town of Woodville (US-363, Woodville Hwy) and across the Leon/Wakulla County line. Turn left onto Commerce Boulevard (first paved road on left after the County line). Go approximately 4½ miles on Commerce Boulevard and turn right on Melaleuca Drive.|
