Reporters invited to the Christmas Children of Inmates visit at Martin C.I. on 12/20/2011

What: The Service Network for Children of Inmates will be bringing children from all over Dade County to visit with their fathers. 
Where: Martin Correctional Institution Visiting Park, 1150 S.W. Allapattah Road, Indiantown, Florida 34956-4397
When: Tuesday, 12/20/2011 at 9:30 a.m.
Who: Service Network for Children and inmates at Martin CI.  Martin CI is an adult male facility located in Indiantown. It currently houses 1257 inmates ranging in custody from close to community.
Why: Since April 2007, the Department of Corrections has partnered with the Service Network for Children of Inmates to strengthen the bonds between inmates and their children. The Service Network for Children of Inmates is dedicated to understanding the circumstances and needs of families with an incarcerated parent. Through these joint efforts, we are able to assist in improving the quality of life for children of incarcerated parents, their families and communities.

Directions to Prison: Take I-95 to Exit 110 (State Road 714). Go west to 4-way stop sign. Turn right onto SR-609. Martin is approximately three miles on the left side. Turnpike directions: Take turnpike to Stuart exit. Take first left onto State Road 714 to stop sign. Turn right onto State Road 609. The institution is approximately three miles on the left side.
