The Corrections Foundation is accepting used computers that will be refurbished at Sumter CI and Cross City CI and then donated to schools and organizations serving children in Florida. The programs are ready to start refurbishing computers but donations have been slow. If you have a computer that meets the specs below please consider donating it to the Computers for Florida’s Kids program so that it can have a new life and avoid the landfill. Also, the computers are wiped clean using software that meets or exceeds the Dept. of Defense guidelines before they are worked on by the vocational programs at the institutions so you can rest assured that your data is protected.
Pentium 4 (or equivalent) with a minimum 512 MB of memory; Macs –Performa, Centris, Power Mac, or G3 and up, servers with dual-core Xeon processors with a minimum 2 GB of memory and a CD/DVD drive.
Peripherals in working condition will also be accepted: color monitors, keyboards, mice, power and monitor cables, and CD/DVD drives, network cards, Pentium motherboards, RAM SIMMS, 120+ GB hard drives.
Donations within driving distance to Tallahassee, Cross City or Bushnell, FL are needed at this time. Or computers may be dropped off at the Corrections Foundation, 4070 Esplanade Way, Tallahassee, Cross City CI or Sumter CI (administration buildings) with a note that they are for the Computers for Kids Program. When you drop off a computer please let the Foundation know so that they can send you a letter for tax deduction purposes.
Thank you for considering a donation to us. If you have any questions please call Chris Akins at (850) 717-3715 or you may reach Sheri Logue at (850) 717-3714.
