On January 15, 2012, the canine unit from Hamilton Correctional institution was called to assist the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office track a suspect who had vandalized a residence.
The suspect was tracked by the Hamilton CI Canine team consisting of Sergeant William Billingsley, Officer Steve Folsom, and Sgt. S. Bennett.
Hamilton's Canine 'Copper' tracked the suspects for a little over a half mile before he was located by Deputy Hughes of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. The juvenile suspect and his accomplice were taken into custody by Sheriff's deputies.
"The professionalism that our canine units show day in and day out and their willingness to go into harm's way to protect the public is a testament to their dedication as public servants and law enforcement officers," said Warden John Palmer.
