Lowell Reception Center Changes Name to Florida Women’s Reception Center

~Facility will remain the reception center for female inmates across the state.~

Florida Department of Corrections announced today the name change of Lowell Reception Center to the Florida Women’s Reception Center (FWRC). The FWRC will remain the reception center for all female inmates in the state of Florida.

The FWRC is in Marion County and located across from Lowell Correctional Institution. This facility has a capacity of 1,345 inmates and is unique, having multiple missions: reception, in-patient mental health, faith and character based and general population. FWRC offers a wide variety of Betterment Programs that help inmates prepare for their successful re-entry into society.

Please make note of the name change for broadcast, writing, correspondence and other purposes.
