Martin Correctional’s American Legion Chapter 398 to Recognize POW/MIA Observance Day

The Florida Department of Corrections Martin Correctional Institution’s (CI) American Legion Post 398 will honor Prisoners of War/Missing in Action Observance Day on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 10:00 a.m.  The American Legion Post 398 was established at Martin CI in August 2012, and has  approximately 40 inmates who run the Chapter.

Directions: Take I-95 to Exit 110 (State Road 714). Go west to 4-way stop sign. Turn right onto SR-609. Martin is approximately three miles on the left side. Turnpike directions: Take turnpike to Stuart exit. Take first left onto State Road 714 to stop sign. Turn right onto State Road 609. The institution is approximately three miles on the left side.
WHY: To recognize the American service members who have been Prisoners of War and/or Missing in Action.
RSVP Required: If you wish to attend the ceremony, you must contact the Department of Corrections’ Office of Communications at (850) 488-0420, to submit a Media Access Form, as background checks will need to be completed. If you plan to attend, email the Media Access Form to Misty Cash at cash.misty@mail.dc.state.fl.us. All members of the media need to bring a photo ID.
