Apalachee Correctional Institution to Host Community Partnership Meeting

~Attendees will get to tour the institution and get a better understanding of the facility and its operations.~


WHAT: This Community Partnership Meeting is intended to bring community leaders together, to give them a greater understanding of the prison system while providing them with an overview of the Apalachee Correctional Institution (CI) and its operations.  Presenters will focus on Apalachee CI’s extensive efforts to prepare inmates educationally, socially and vocationally for re-entry into society. 
WHEN: October 3, 2013.  The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. EST. The purpose of this event is to provide an overview of the facility and operations at the institution level. The event will begin with an informational presentation, a guided tour of the institution, and end with lunch.

WHO: Department of Corrections and local dignitaries to Volusia, Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, Lake, Marion and Seminole Counties.  The Community Partnership Meeting is open to all media, however no video or photos may be taken without the prior consent and approval from Department staff at the event. No cell phones will be permitted inside the institution.

Media who wish to attend need to contact the Department of Corrections’ Communications Office at (850) 488-0420 and submit the Media Access Form prior to the event.
