Florida Department of Corrections Secretary Mike Crews issued the following statement today regarding the agency's Probation and Parole office in Pensacola:
"At the direction of Governor Scott, the Department of Corrections will maintain its lease with its current probation and parole office provider, and will no longer transition to the old Coca Cola location. We're committed to not only keeping families safe, but being good community partners. We appreciate the many discussions we had with area families on this issue. We took their input seriously, and we'll continue working to do what's best to keep families safe."
As Florida's largest state agency, the Department of Corrections employs more than 22,000 members statewide, oversees more than 100,000 inmates and supervises nearly 146,000 offenders in the community.
