Department of Corrections Requested Meeting with Miami Dade Police Department Yields Timely Commitment to Conclusion of Dade Correctional Institution Case
Tallahassee, Fla – Department of Corrections (DOC) Inspector General Jeffery T. Beasley met with senior officials from the Miami-Dade Police Department and the State Attorney’s office in Miami on Wednesday, May 28 to discuss, at DOC’s request, the ongoing investigation into the death of an inmate at Dade Correctional Institution and to share any available information relative to the incident.
Mr. Beasley again offered any and all investigatory assistance from DOC and reiterated the need for transparency and for information to be shared promptly. All parties expressed their commitment to this investigation and to a conclusion as soon as possible.
If the investigation reveals evidence to indicate any criminal behavior or wrongdoing by Department employees, DOC will immediately take appropriate action.
