Florida Department of Corrections Honors Fallen Officers
CRAWFORDVILLE, FLA. – Secretary Julie Jones and members of the Florida Department of Corrections (DOC) leadership team today honored fallen correctional officers and employees during a wreath laying ceremony at Wakulla Correctional Institution.
“Each day thousands of brave men and women put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of Florida families,” Secretary Jones said. “Today, and every day, we honor and remember the bravery of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the State of Florida.”
The Department holds an annual wreath laying ceremony in remembrance of corrections employees who have died in the line of duty.
As Florida's largest state agency, the Department of Corrections employs more than 22,000 members statewide, incarcerates more than 100,000 inmates and supervises nearly 146,000 offenders in the community.
