Governor Rick Scott Recognizes July 12-18 as Probation, Parole, and
Community Supervision Week
Tallahassee, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott designated July 12 – 18, 2015 as Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week in a proclamation signed on July 9. Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week recognizes community corrections professionals who promote public safety by providing effective supervision of offenders in the community.
Secretary Julie Jones said, “Correctional probation officers and community corrections staff play an instrumental role in ensuring the safety of Florida’s communities. Each and every day, the Department’s officers work tirelessly to supervise more than 143,000 offenders statewide. The Department is proud to recognize our correctional probation officers and staff during this year’s Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week.”
As Florida's largest state agency, the Department of Corrections employs more than 22,000 members statewide, incarcerates more than 100,000 inmates and supervises nearly 146,000 offenders in the community.
