|WHAT:||Media representatives are invited to the Prison Pups N Pals graduation ceremony. The Prison Pups N Pals program brings together rescue dogs from the Halifax Humane Society and inmates from Tomoka Correctional Institution Work Camp for obedience training. Graduating dogs earn the AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate and are crate trained, housebroken, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and micro-chipped. The program also partners with the Orlando VA to provide veterans with companion dogs.|

|WHY:||Through programs like Prison Pups N Pals program, the Department of Corrections focuses on teaching inmates valuable job skills that will lead them to productive employment and law-abiding lives upon release.|
|COMMUNITY PARTNER:||The Halifax Humane Society adoption fee is only $70. Dogs that are over five years of age are adopted for $35 – a bargain, when you consider that the dog will be trained and housebroken.
