R.O.C.K. Hounds Graduation to be held at Union Correctional Institution

If you would like to attend, please contact the Florida Department of Corrections’ Office of Communications as soon as possible at (850) 488-0420. Attendees will need to complete and submit a Media Background Access Form. No video or photos may be taken without prior consent and approval of Department staff at the event.

WHAT: Media are invited to the Rehabilitation of Castaway K-9s (R.O.C.K.) Hounds graduation ceremony. The R.O.C.K. Hounds program brings together rescue dogs from the Lake City Humane Society with inmates from Union Correctional Institution for obedience training. Graduating dogs are crate trained, housebroken, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and micro-chipped.

WHY: Through programs like R.O.C.K. Hounds, the Department of Corrections focuses on teaching inmates valuable job skills that will lead them to productive employment and law-abiding lives upon release.

DIRECTIONS:

From East: SR-16, 11 miles west of Starke on left. From North (Macclenny): SR-121 south approximately 17 miles to SR-16 (before town of Raiford). Turn left onto SR-16. Go approximately 2 miles. The Institution is on the right.

From West (Lake City): SR-100 approximately 23 miles to SR-121 (Lake Butler), turn left. Go approximately 6 miles. Just outside town of Raiford turn right (east) onto SR-16. Go approximately 2 miles. The Institution is on the right.
