Inmate Assaults Correctional Officer at Lake Correctional Institution
CLERMONT, Fla. – An inmate assaulted a correctional officer Monday morning at Lake Correctional Institution.
Inmate Zachary Holloway (V21217) assaulted a correctional officer at approximately 3:08 a.m. During an escort, the inmate jumped up and became combative. When correctional officers attempted to restrain inmate Holloway, he revealed two pieces of metal, using one to stab an officer in the thumb.
The injured officer was examined by medical staff who recommended immediate treatment for the injury at a hospital via Department transport.
Inmate Holloway will receive a disciplinary report for this assault. The Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General will investigate this incident.
An Assault Advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
