Inmate Assaults Correctional Officer at Central Florida Reception Center
ORLANDO, Fla. – An inmate assaulted a correctional officer Thursday evening at Central Florida Reception Center.
Inmate Michael Chisholm (X81707) attacked a correctional officer at approximately 11:27 p.m. While an officer was counseling another inmate, inmate Chisholm became aggressive and attacked the counseling officer. Despite verbal commands from staff for him to cease his actions, inmate Chisholm continued to attack the counseling officer. Several other officers then responded and brought inmate Chisholm into compliance.
The injured officer was examined by medical staff who noted swelling to the face, swelling to the back of the head, bleeding from the nose, a lacerated index finger and an abrasion to one knee.
Inmate Chisholm will receive a disciplinary report for this assault. The Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General will investigate this incident.
An Assault Advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
