Inmate Attacks Correctional Officer at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution
MILTON, Fla. – An inmate attacked a correctional officer Thursday night at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.
Inmate Carl Telusma (Y56467) attacked a correctional officer at approximately 8:35 p.m. Inmate Telusma was being escorted to the shower by two officers when he began kicking and striking one of the officers. Following the initial attack, the officers were able to successfully apply restraints to inmate Telusma, bring him into compliance and finish the escort to the shower.
The injured officer was examined by medical staff who noted a scrape to left elbow and knee, redness to right shoulder and ribs.
Inmate Telusma will receive a disciplinary report for this assault. The Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General will investigate this incident.
An Assault Advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
