Inmate Assaults Correctional Officers at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution
MILTON, Fla.—An inmate assaulted two correctional officers Wednesday morning at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.
Inmate Willie Brown (L80586) attacked two correctional officers at approximately 11:17 a.m. EST. Inmate Brown struck the officers through a cell flap. Despite verbal commands from staff to cease his actions, the inmate continued to attack. Staff was able to secure the cell flap and the inmate became compliant.
Medical staff examined the officers and suggested for one of them to receive treatment at an outside medical facility for pain to the right shoulder.
Inmate Brown will receive a disciplinary report for this assault. The Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General will investigate this incident.
An Assault Advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
