Paws for Veterans Graduation Ceremony to be held at Central Florida Reception Center

If you would like to attend, please contact the Florida Department of Corrections’ Office of Communications as soon as possible at (850) 488-0420. Attendees will need to complete and submit a Media Background Access Form. No video or photos may be taken without prior consent and approval of Department staff at the event.

WHAT: Media are invited to the graduation ceremony of Paws for Veterans. The Florida Department of Corrections partners with Paws for Veterans for a program that allows inmates to train dogs for veterans diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Graduating dogs are crate trained, housebroken, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and ready for the next step in training to assist their future veteran recipient.

WHY: Through programs like Paws for Veterans, the Department of Corrections is focusing on teaching inmates viable job skills that will lead them to productive jobs and law-abiding lives upon release
OUR COMMUNITY PARTNER: Paws for Veterans is a non-profit 501-(c)(3)organization that partners trained service dogs with a disabled veteran.
