Inmate Assaults Correctional Officer at Suwannee Correctional Institution
LIVE OAK, Fla — An inmate assaulted a staff member Tuesday afternoon at Suwannee Correctional Institution.
Inmate Josue Cotto (140418) attacked a correctional officer through a cell flap at approximately 4:08 p.m. by pulling the officer’s arm. The correctional officer attempted to retrieve his arm, but the inmate refused to cease his actions. The officer was able to remove his arm and secure the flap. Inmate Cotto then became compliant
The injured staff member was examined by medical staff who noted a mild erythema to one forearm.
Inmate Cotto will receive a disciplinary report for this assault. The Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General will investigate this incident.
