Inmate Assaults Correctional Officers at West Palm Beach Community Release Center

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – An inmate attacked two correctional officers Thursday night at West Palm Beach Community Release Center.

Inmate Lennox Ferguson (B03175) attacked the correctional officers at approximately 11:30 p.m. Inmate Ferguson was being placed in restraints when he elbowed an officer and attempted to strike another. Following the initial attack, the officers successfully brought inmate Ferguson into compliance.

The injured staff member was examined by medical staff who noted lower back pain as well as scratches to an elbow.

Inmate Ferguson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault. The Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General will investigate this incident.

An Assault Advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
