Florida Department of Corrections Honors America’s Heroes on Memorial Day
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) recognizes Military Appreciation Month during May and honors our nation’s heroes on Memorial Day.
Secretary Julie Jones said, “The Florida Department of Corrections commends our nation’s military veterans. We remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of freedom and liberty. I thank the many FDC employees who have chosen to serve and protect the American way of life. The Department is proud of their service.”
The Department values the skills, dedication and work ethic of our nation’s veteran military personnel and actively recruits new employees through military hiring events such Hiring our Heroes and Hero 2 Hired.
As Florida's largest state agency, the Department of Corrections employs 24,000 members statewide, incarcerates approximately 98,000 inmates and supervises nearly 140,000 offenders in the community.
