FDC Assault Advisories | October 18–24, 2016

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.

BRISTOL, Fla. – On October 18, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Liberty South Work Camp.
Inmate Marvin Lewis (L04208) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 11:35 a.m. EST. Inmate Lewis pulled away from staff while being restrained and kicked the officer in the torso. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate became compliant.

Inmate Lewis will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. – On October 18, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at the Wakulla Correctional Institution Annex.

Inmate Isaac Alvarez (M73595) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 3:45 p.m. EST. While in his cell, Inmate Alvarez used his handcuffs to grab and twist the officer’s arm. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was restrained.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted a swollen


finger and bruising to the lower arm.

Inmate Alvarez will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. – On October 18, an inmate assaulted correctional officers at Okeechobee Correctional Institution.

Inmate Terran Shoffner (D48727) attacked the correctional officers at approximately 5:31 p.m. EST. Inmate Shoffner was refusing commands when he turned and pushed two officers in the chest. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was restrained.

Medical staff examined the officers and noted no injuries.

Inmate Shoffner will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


LIVE OAK, Fla. – On October 19, an inmate assaulted correctional officers at Suwannee Correctional Institution.
Inmate Austin Harvey (E47595) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 12:02 a.m. EST. Inmate Harvey was being escorted to his cell when he became agitated and kicked the officer in the groin. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was restrained.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted no injuries.

Inmate Harvey will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


LIVE OAK, Fla. – On October 19, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at the Suwannee Correctional Institution Annex.

Inmate Jeffrey Gordon (D34257) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 8:50 a.m. EST. Inmate Gordon was being disorderly when he kicked out and struck the officer in the arm. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was restrained.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted no injuries.

Inmate Gordon will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


PERRY, Fla. – On October 23, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Taylor Correctional Institution.
Inmate Morgan Johnson (W43263) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 6:35 p.m. EST. Inmate Johnson was being searched when he became combative and struck the officer in the torso and head. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was restrained.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted no injuries.

Inmate Johnson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


PERRY, Fla. – On October 23, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Taylor Correctional Institution.
Inmate Ralph Thompson (L41237) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 7:25 p.m. EST. Inmate Thompson was being escorted when he became aggressive and struck the officer in the leg. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was restrained.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted no injuries.

Inmate Thompson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


MILTON, Fla. – On October 24, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at the Santa Rosa Annex.
Inmate Shammar Martin (G10060) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 1:25 p.m. CST. Inmate Martin was being searched when he turned and back-slapped the officer in the arm. The inmate became compliant, and there was no further incident.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted no injuries.

Inmate Martin will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


RAIFORD, Fla. – On October 24, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Florida State Prison.
Inmate Antwan Pleas (T46167) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 1:23 p.m. EST. Inmate Pleas struck the officer in the torso with his hands and also kicked the officer in the legs. Staff responded appropriately and the inmate became compliant.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted no injuries.

Inmate Pleas will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
