This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.

CROSS CITY, Fla. – On November 20, three inmates assaulted a correctional officer at Cross City Correctional Institution.

Inmates Alex Rondon (M81564), Leonard Hollie (C09866) and Joshua Guareno (149269) attacked the officer at approximately 4:45 p.m. EDT. Inmate Rondon was refusing to submit to orders when he turned and struck the officer. As the officer took appropriate action to reestablish compliance, Inmate Hollie then grabbed the officer from behind and allowed Inmates Rondon and Guareno to strike the officer. Additional staff responded appropriately, and there was no further incident.

Medical staff examined the injured officer and noted a broken nose, lacerations to the face and lacerations to the back of the head.

Inmates Rondon, Hollie and Guareno will immediately be placed in Maximum Management confinement and further reviewed for Close Management confinement. The Department of Corrections’ Office of Inspector General will fully investigate this incident.

An Assault Advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
