FDC Assault Advisories | November 15–21, 2016

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – On November 15, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Tomoka Correctional Institution.

Inmate Leon Carter (X64051) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 5:35 p.m. EDT. Inmate Carter refused to submit to commands during a search and pushed the officer as he fled. The inmate became compliant without further incident.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted a scratch on the arm.

Inmate Carter will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


RAIFORD, Fla. – On November 16, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Union Correctional Institution.

Inmate Shane Whipple (543282) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 9:09 p.m. EDT. Inmate Whipple tried to defeat the officer’s custodial grasp and kicked the officer in the groin. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate became compliant.

Inmate Whipple will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – On November 17, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Dade Correctional Institution.

Inmate Johnathan Gonzalez (X42251) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 7:08 a.m. EDT. While refusing orders to return to his dorm, Inmate Gonzalez struck the officer in the arm. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate became compliant.

Inmate Gonzalez will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


MILTON, Fla. – On November 18, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.

Inmate Ronnie Ford (H25867) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 11:55 a.m. CDT. Inmate Ford reached through his cell and struck the officer with a homemade weapon. The inmate became compliant without further incident.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted a laceration to the wrist.

Inmate Ford will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


RAIFORD, Fla. – On November 18, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Union Correctional Institution.

Inmate Quantez Ealy (C03113) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 2:16 p.m. EDT. Inmate Ealy head butted the officer while he was being prepared for escort. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate became compliant.

Medical staff examined the injured officer and noted redness to the face.

Inmate Ealy will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


CENTURY, Fla. – On November 20, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Century Correctional Institution.

Inmate Shondre Cromartie (N22295) attacked the correctional officer at approximately 1:00 p.m. CDT. Inmate Cromartie refused orders to cease disruptive behavior and struck the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate became compliant.

Inmate Ealy will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
