Correctional Officer Arrested Following OIG Investigation

TRENTON, Fla. – On November 1, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) Office of Inspector General announced the arrest of correctional officer Richard Knight Jr. following an OIG criminal investigation. Knight Jr. has been charged with one count each of battery on an inmate, tampering with a victim and falsifying records.

Following the arrest, Knight Jr. was transported to the Columbia County Jail. The FDC Office of the Inspector General acknowledges the cooperation and assistance provided by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office in the 8th Judicial Circuit.
