FDC Honors America’s Veterans and Military Personnel

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is incredibly thankful for Florida’s veterans and military personnel’s service to our nation.

“On Veterans Day, it is important to honor and thank this great nation’s brave heroes for the sacrifices they’ve made so we can continue to live in the land of the free,” said Secretary Julie Jones. “At the Department, we remain committed to standing by our veterans and military personnel throughout Florida.”

“Every year our correctional institutions train companion dogs to serve veterans in the community suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder or undergoing rehabilitation for service-related injuries. We are also the proud employer of more than 2,000 veterans and nearly 500 military personnel, who’ve chosen to serve not only our country in the military but also the State of Florida in the correctional environment. It’s incredible to see so many of our nation’s brave military members continuing to serve and protect their local communities.”
