10/07/11 Organizational Changes
As many of you have already heard, Chief Deputy Secretary Dan Ronay tendered his resignation this week. We wish him the best and thank him for his service to Florida. In the next couple of months, I will be looking both internally and externally to find his replacement.
I have also reestablished the Chief of Staff position and am pleased to announce that beginning October 14, Steve Ferst will be the Department’s new Chief of Staff overseeing administrative functions
Our new Inspector General, Jeffery Beasley, started working here in the DOC today. He comes from FDLE, where he was most recently Special Agent Supervisor in the Office of Statewide Intelligence.
Our Deputy Assistant Secretary of Administration, Michelle Pyle, has been working here at the Department for two weeks. She most recently served as Chief of Policy, Development and Planning at FDLE, and is already assisting me here in a similar role.

I understand it has been an unsettling year with all the Central Office changes. I am honored to serve as Secretary of the Florida Department of Corrections and recognize that our members are our most valuable asset. As I add new members to our team, I’ll make sure they hold that same belief.
